Happy Diwali!

Diwali, for Hindus, is a festival of festivals. It starts with Dhanteras two days before Diwali and ends on the fifth day of Bhai Dooj, two days after Diwali. Many parts of India would also celebrate their new year from the day next to Diwali, and many in the business commnity start their new balance sheets/accounting books.

While Diwali is considered to be a festival of prosperity (Lakshmi, the Hindu Goddess of prosperity and wealth, is worshipped on the day of Diwali), let’s not forget other types of wealth that we are blessed with – the wealth of time, the wealth of knowledge and good senses, the wealth of good relationships, and the wealth of good fortune, many of which are denied to the less fortunate in our society. Let’s worship and thank the God for these wealth too, and share some with those not so blessed. Then we shall be blessed with the wealth of true happiness!
