The street running scene in Mumbai is generally pathetic. There are safety issues, and nobody looks forward to running through rotting garbage, mucky potholes, pavement dwellers and God forbid, aggressive stray dogs! In a city like this, the BNP comes as a savior.
Officially called the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, the only national park in the country with a city’s postal code, it is popularly referred to as BNP – Borivali National Park – in the running community. The 100 sq km national park is pretty much within the city boundaries and easily accessible from most parts of the city.
Beautiful greens, flowing streams and well-maintained roads…and if you are lucky in the mornings, you will spot a herd of spotted deer on your running route! How many cities in the country can boast of such a beautiful running space?
Happy running!
